Circular IT financing: a new dimension for financing your IT fleet

Circular IT financing: a new dimension for financing your IT fleet

Circular IT financing brings together financing, impact measurement and refurbished equipment in one model.

A model that goes beyond traditional leasing

Financing an IT fleet is no longer just about choosing between buying and renting. A third dimension is gradually gaining ground among companies committed to a CSR approach: circular IT financing. This model combines the financing of equipment with active management of its lifecycle, from acquisition to asset recovery at the end of the contract, with a clear objective: extending the service life of equipment rather than speeding up its renewal.

At Leasetic, this circular dimension is not a separate product among our offers: it is present in our contracts (traditional leasing, adaptive leasing, leaseback) in the form of three constant commitments: traceability of the environmental impact, access to new, refurbished or remanufactured equipment, and asset recovery of end-of-life equipment.

What is circular IT financing?

Circular IT financing is an approach to financing the IT fleet designed to fit a circular economy logic rather than the traditional linear "buy, use, throw away" model. In practice, this means:

  • A flexible financing contract, whatever type of leasing is chosen
  • Equipment that can be new, refurbished or remanufactured depending on use
  • Continuous measurement of the fleet's environmental impact, rather than a one-off assessment
  • Organised end-of-contract management: refurbishment, resale or traceable recycling

It is this combination of financing, measurement and circularity that sets circular IT financing apart from simply renting refurbished equipment.

The four pillars of the Leasetic model

1. Financing suited to every need

Traditional leasing, adaptive leasing or leaseback: whatever contract is chosen, the circular dimension applies in the same way, without tying up capital in equipment that depreciates quickly.

2. Built-in impact measurement

With Colibris, our CSR management tool, each client sees the carbon footprint of their fleet device by device, built directly into the billing flow, with no manual data entry. It is this direct link between the choice of refurbished or new and its measured impact that makes the approach actionable, and not just declarative.

3. Traceable refurbished and remanufactured equipment

Our equipment is refurbished by our partners Idem, a computer refurbishment specialist, and Seensys, a smartphone and tablet refurbishment specialist. In addition, as a reseller, Leasetic also offers Foxway remanufacturing solutions, available in three grades, with a 3-year warranty that can be extended to 4 years: complementary ways to access documented, traced second-life equipment.

4. Organised asset recovery at the end of the contract

End-of-life equipment is not simply collected: it is assessed, sorted and directed towards refurbishment, resale through our Store (Loopix) or certified recycling, with full traceability.

Measurable gains across the whole fleet

Remanufacturing through Foxway avoids on average 192 kg of CO2e per device compared with equivalent new equipment. On large-scale deployments, the cumulative effect becomes significant: as an illustration, replacing 500 workstations with remanufactured rather than new equipment represents around 96 tonnes of CO2e avoided (192 kg × 500), an order of magnitude that obviously varies with the volume and type of equipment concerned. It is precisely to make this kind of calculation objective for your own fleet, rather than for a generic scenario, that Colibris measures the impact device by device.

Three signs that it is time to activate circular IT financing

Whether you are already a Leasetic client or considering your next contract, three signs show it is time to fully activate this circular dimension:

  • Your IT fleet is renewed systematically, with no distinction between equipment that still performs well and obsolete equipment
  • You need to document your IT actions as part of a CSR assessment (EcoVadis, CSRD, carbon assessment)
  • You want to reduce the capital tied up while keeping control over the quality and traceability of your equipment

If any of these points sounds familiar, the circular dimension of your IT financing can be activated from your next contract, whatever type of leasing you choose, provided you are supported by a partner able to finance, measure and recover value within a single ecosystem.
